Greylag Goose Task Force

Greylag Goose Task Force

The Greylag Goose Task Force was established in line with Rule 29 of the European Goose Management International Working Group (EGM IWG) Modus Operandi, which states that the EGM IWG may create species and/or thematic Task Forces as necessary to handle the preparation and coordination of decision papers and background documents, as well as to address other specific tasks.

At the 5th Meeting of the EGM IWG (EGM IWG5) in June 2020, the draft Terms of Reference for the Greylag Goose Task Force (AEWA/EGMIWG/5.15) were adopted. The establishment of this Task Force was proposed to facilitate coordination of actions among Range States under the International Single Species Management Plan (GG ISSMP) and the Adaptive Flyway Management Programme (GG AFMP) for the NW/SW European population of the Greylag Goose.

The Secretariat, leading the establishment of this Task Force, was tasked with identifying a voluntary Coordinator from one of the major Range States or organizations/institutes with expertise on the subject matter of the Task Force to oversee its operations. Currently, Ms Malin Åhl from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is the Coordinator of the Task Force.

In line with the Terms of Reference, the nomination of additional members to the Task Force is at the discretion of the National Government Representative of each Range State, the Coordinator of the Task Force, and in consultation with the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat.
